Winter 2011/2012 will be a season of bold colors muted by earthy colors. Likewise, styles will range from the more traditional preppy ensembles to a robust military style. Classical styles have been given a refreshingly updated appearance using beautiful fabrics from the ever-popular and luxurious velvet to swathes of natural wool and heaps of vintage leather. The big look is undoubtedly Scottish plaid from the Black Watch to more obscure designs but without which, the season will pass you by. One or two winter coats and a few shirts in the various shades of plaid keep you in touch with this year’s look. Timeless jackets, coats and suits are back in fashion. Designers have add a zing to these sometimes staid items of clothing. Small waistlines are showed to their best advantage with the figure hugging waistlines. The double-breasted look adds a suave touch of sophistication while outsized buttons draw attention to the jacket. Finished with geometric shapes sewn on the front, this becomes a focal fashion item. Fabrics are traditional, well-loved fabrics. Soft supple velvet, pure wool and lots of leather are in vogue. Cherry red jackets, accessories and, for the really modish, pants are strong this season. Bold blue, burnt orange and bright yellow are also strongly in evidence, not just in accessories, but in sweaters, jackets and coats. Beige complemented by gray or black brings a more distinguished look to ensembles for winter, especially teamed up with a classic camel overcoat. The theme of war and the accompanying perceptions of discipline underpin a number of items, including the bomber jacket, trench coats and even the duffle bag. Dark blue and black present a robust masculine look in classic clothing items. Khaki and black are favorite colors here. Complete the aviator look with large scarves and retro sunglasses to complement your bomber jacket. For those who prefer to keep their feet on the ground, trench coats are available in refreshing new looks. Fashion gurus will take huge delight in the preppy college look. Smart, well-groomed gentlemen will love the chinos, crew-necked sweaters and tweed jackets. The figure-hugging waistline of the jacket cuts a dapper figure. Designer jeans with turn-ups are a good alternative to the chinos. Finishing off the look is the padded jacket so loved by college boys. An alternative to the preppy look is the English country gentleman outfit. Look out for tweed blazers, preferably with leather elbow patches, plain waistcoats and check, or plaid, shirts. Complete the look with corduroy trousers and the Chelsea boots made popular by the Rockers. While earthy colors are in, do not forget to include a Scottish plaid in your accessories. Designers were divided about hats for this season but those who did add them to their collection focused on fedoras, trilbies and Homburgs in primary colors. The leather shoulder satchel and a wide selection of scarves adds the final touches to an exciting look for Winter 2011/12. Next – Mens Clothes Shops
